Secret Identities. Extraordinary Powers. She wants vengeance. He wants justice.
The Renegades are a syndicate of prodigies—humans with extraordinary abilities—who emerged from the ruins of a crumbled society and established peace and order where chaos reigned. As champions of justice, they remain a symbol of hope and courage to everyone...except the villains they once overthrew.
Nova has a reason to hate the Renegades, and she is on a mission for vengeance. As she gets closer to her target, she meets Adrian, a Renegade boy who believes in justice—and in Nova. But Nova's allegiance is to a villain who has the power to end them both.
Hey there! We are the very next stop on the RENEGADES Blog Tour. This story is so incredibly good. Well, first it’s a Marissa Meyer story, so the world building you guys literally explodes from page one, and the characters are immediately recognizable and layered. Ah, don’t you love when a favorite author explores a new world and does it well? I’m enjoying it immensely, and my review of it will be up next week. So, be sure to check back here.
But today, we have a little something different for you. You see RENEGADES is a story about superheroes and villains, who inhabit a world that’s emerged from chaos. And I think those Renegades need a good playlist. So, I’ve put together 5 superheroic songs that must be included. What do you think? Did I pick good ones? I included a snippet of the lyrics that stood out to me as good fit.
- “Heroes” by David Bowie
Though nothing, will keep us together
We could steal time, just for one day
We can be heroes, forever and ever
What’d you say?
- “21 Guns” by Green Day
Do you know what’s worth fighting for
When it’s not worth dying for?
Does it take your breath away
And you feel yourself suffocating?
And you look for a place to hide?
Did someone break your heart inside?
You’re in ruins
- “Superwoman” by Alicia Keys
Everywhere I’m turning
Nothing seems complete
I stand up and I’m searching
For the better part of me
I hang my head from sorrow
State of humanity
I wear it on my shoulders
Gotta find the strength in me
- “Superman” by Five for Fighting
It may sound absurd, but don’t be naive
Even heroes have the right to bleed
I may be disturbed, but won’t you concede
Even heroes have the right to dream
And it’s not easy to be me
- “Kryptonite” by 3 Doors Down
If I go crazy then will you still
Call me Superman
If I’m alive and well, will you be
There holding my hand
I’ll keep you by my side with
My superhuman might
Classic songs perhaps, and a little heavy on Superman imagery, but I think they’re pretty darn heroic, vulnerable and a reminder that sometimes, heroes do fall. What songs would you add to the list?
