Long before she was the terror of Wonderland—the infamous Queen of Hearts—she was just a girl who wanted to fall in love.Long before she was the terror of Wonderland, she was just a girl who wanted to fall in love. Catherine may be one of the most desired girls in Wonderland, and a favorite of the unmarried King of Hearts, but her interests lie elsewhere. A talented baker, all she wants is to open a shop with her best friend. But according to her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for the young woman who could be the next queen.
Then Cath meets Jest, the handsome and mysterious court joker. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. At the risk of offending the king and infuriating her parents, she and Jest enter into an intense, secret courtship. Cath is determined to define her own destiny and fall in love on her terms. But in a land thriving with magic, madness, and monsters, fate has other plans.
In her first stand-alone teen novel, the New York Times-bestselling author dazzles us with a prequel to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
You guys, there are only 2 DAYS LEFT until Heartless is released!!!!! Who’s ready to read it on Tuesday???? I know we are all so excited about its release into the wild.
We posted our spoiler-free review of it here, but I’m going to share a snippet from it:
Marissa has done a wonderful job bringing Cath to life. There’s an inevitable melancholy in knowing how the character will turn out. The last 75 pages were tension-filled and featured some of Marissa’s best writing to date. I love that Heartless is a standalone, but at the same time, I’m a little sad that it is. I know, I know, I’m the first one to usually claim series fatigue. But in this case, I want to see more of Marissa’s world.
Also, check out our dreamcast of the always-dreamy fan favorite, Captain Thorne. Let me just say that this was our favorite post to write in a long time. But today, we want to share our dreamcast of Cath. Cath is strong and determined. Can she find love on her own terms?
Now, who could play Cath? Well, in our book, there’s only one actress that’s up for the challenge. We loved her with Ed Westwick in “Chalet Girl”, and she is going to rock “Star Wars: Rogue One” this December:

Marissa Meyer is the New York Times-bestselling author of The Lunar Chronicles. She lives in Tacoma, Washington. She’s a fan of most things geeky (Sailor Moon, Firefly, any occasion that requires a costume), and has been in love with fairy tales since she was a child. She may or may not be a cyborg.
