Kami Garcia’s Unbreakable Chicago Tour Stop Recap

I had a blast at the last stop on the Legion Series Tour.  It took place at Anderson’s in Naperville on October 15th. Kami Garcia was joined by Margaret Stohl (author of ICONS & co-author of Beautiful Creatures) and Rachel Caine (author of The Morganville Vampire Series).

I always have a blast hanging out with Kami and Margaret and it was fun to see Rachel again.  The three answered some Qs, did Lightning Round (I failed a keeping them on task, but they were being entertaining, so yeah… lol) and then signed some books.

Margie started the night off by talking about ICONS.  She said that she wanted to write something totally different from Beautiful Creatures, to have a different writing experience. And the idea came out of a desire to blow up LA (she must have been having a frustrating day hehe.) Margie recently got back from a research trip to Asia for book 2 of the ICONS series and she also read the screen play for the ICONS movie.

Kami went next talking about UNBREAKABLE.  We all applauded her for hitting the New York Times Best Sellers list.  Kami talked about how she made some of the weapons she put into the book, she wanted to make sure they were accurate (or she was procrastinating… lol).  She also talked about her desire to get the perfect reader for the Unbreakable audiobook (listen to a preview on Audible.com).  She found this in Candice Accola, an actress on the Vampire Diaries.

Rachel capped off the night.  She talked about the Morganville Vampire Series and her new book, Prince of Shadows, out in February 2014, and it’s a retelling of Romeo and Juliette told from Benvolio’s point of view.  The last book in her Morganville Vampire Series, Daylighters, comes out November 5th.  Rachel also shared with us that the Morganville Vampire Web Series will debut in the Spring of 2014.
