Your strength in heart and hand will fall. . . .
Ellie knows that the darkest moments are still to come, and she has everything to fight for:
She must fight for Will.
The demonic have resorted to their cruelest weapons to put Will in mortal danger, and Ellie makes an unlikely alliance to save him and to stop Lilith and Sammael, who seek to drown the world in blood and tear a hole into Heaven.
She must fight for humanity.
As the armies of Hell rise and gather for the looming End of Days, Ellie and her band of allies travel to the world’s darkest and most ancient regions in her quest to come into her full glory as the archangel Gabriel.
And Ellie must save herself.
Her humanity withers beneath the weight of her cold archangel power, but Ellie must hold tight to who she is and who she loves as she prepares for the ultimate battle for Heaven and Earth.
In this final installment in the Angelfire trilogy, Courtney Allison Moulton brings her dark world of epic battles and blistering romance to a blazing bright conclusion.
Avoiding the Faux Action Girls ~ Courtney Allison Moulton

Creating a strong heroine is no easy feat and most Action Girls end up spiraling toward complete and utter uselessness. They become what are known as Faux Action Girls. I hear this a lot, especially on panels with other authors: “Well, a true strong heroine is strong on the inside…” Yeah, sure, that’s right. Being strong on the inside, i.e. having an opinion, sticking up for your friends, ect. is required for any heroine, otherwise she’s not a heroine. But we’re taking our girl a step further and we’re making her an Action Girl. In order to do that, we have to first understand what that is and what writing mistakes to avoid.
An Action Girl is a girl who can kick ass and take names right alongside a hero. She’s the one doing the action. She’s kicking and hitting and shooting and being an all-around badass. There’s nothing about her gender that holds her back and keeps her from claiming equal kickassery with her male counterparts. She’s making decisions and taking the lead. Two of my favorite Action Girls of all time are Selene from the Underworld movies and Lara Croft from the Tomb Raider video games and movies. These girls kick so much ass I don’t even know where to begin.

Here’s something to also keep in mind: If your heroine kicks everyone’s butt and never needs anyone’s help, you’re basically turning her into an Invincible Hero, which is exactly what it sounds like. Your Action Girl, no matter how badass she is, has to have flaws, make mistakes, and get her badass butt saved once in a while in order to be realistic, relatable, and not boring.
A Faux Action Girl gives the illusion of kickassery, but never gets anything done. Her plans are constantly thwarted and she has to be saved or helped every time she does something, essentially preventing her from doing anything at all. Another huge issue I see among Faux Action Girls is a heroine who has an Informed Ability, an ability that the writer keeps reiterating the heroine has but one the heroine never uses. Don’t tell us how strong or badass your heroine is, SHOW US. Show her swinging that sword and taking out the bad guys.
Your Action Girl has to do something. That’s what action is: doing something.
