5 Great Author Moments!

We have had some great author moments this year! Stacey, really had some amazing moments, so most of these are hers.

1. Meeting Heidi Kling, Angie Frazier, Christina Gonzalez and Kody Keplinger: I was going to NYC for the Eclipse movie release because some friends of mine host a big charity event for the movies. It just so happened that Heidi, along with Angie Frazier and Christina Gonzalez, was doing a book signing in NYC that same week. So it worked out that Heidi and Angie could attend the Eclipse movie event and then I got to go to the signing at Books of Wonder that Heidi, Angie & Christina were doing. Kody Keplinger also happened to be in town that week and I walked with her to the signing. It was way cool and after the signing, Heidi, Kody and myself (along with another Blogger, Matali) went to go see American Idiot on Broadway.
2. Meeting Kami Garcia and Margie Stohl: When Beautiful Creatures came out in 2009 Kami and Margie got to come to Chicago for a couple events. I went to both events they had in town and had a great time! They are so nice and welcomed me into the fold, I totally became part of the “family.”
3. Meeting Carrie Ryan: So I (Stacey) have become a bit of a Carrie Ryan stalker. I’m pretty sure I’ve been to every event Carrie Ryan has had in Chicago since we started the blog. It started because I had a bunch of books to get signed, so I wanted to hedge my bets and go to both events so I made sure I could get them all signed. Well I got them all signed at the first event, went to the 2nd event just to hear her talk and the 3rd was the Smart Chicks tour. Had a blast at each event, Carrie is so warm and personable, can’t wait to see here when she comes back to Chicago in 2011!
4. Smart Girls Kick It Tour – I (Pixie) was able to attend one of the events in Houston. I had a wonderful time meeting all the authors – but the highlight of the night was when Kami Garcia and Margie Stohl realized I was the other half of Page Turners and asked for a picture of my beat up arcs. Beautiful Creatures was one of the first arcs we received after starting Page Turners and I loved it so much, I was passing it around for everyone to read.
5.Carolee Dean author of Take Me There – I am not sure how it all started, but she decided to do a book blog tour, but instead of sending her book, she drove across the state of Texas meeting Texas book bloggers. It was fun and different and Carolee was very friendly and sweet!

Huge Thank You to Blue Willow Book Shop – they were the host/spot to most of my amazing author meetings this year. Teen Book Con, Carolee’s book tour stop, Maggie Stiefvater & The second stop of the Smart Girls Kick It Tour – I can’t wait to see what they have lined of for 2011

  1. Those are some great moments. I met Carrie Ryan too and she was super sweet. Who all did you meet at The Smart Chick Kick it tour? I so wanted to go but babysitting issues came up. I would of went to the one in Cincinnati.

  2. @Awesomesauce – the one I attended had Kami Garcia, Margie Stohl, Kelly Armstrong, Melissa Marr, Alyson Noel, Holly Black, Sarah Rees Brennan & Cassandra Clare. It was amazing! I wished I could have attended both Houston events because I missed out on meeting Rachel Vincent – who I really wanted to meet.
